This includes patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety. Delegates tasks and duties to healthcare team members in accordance with the patient’s needs and the team member’s capabilities and qualifications. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols. Communicates appropriate information regarding patient condition or concerns to other health care team members. Educates patients and families to appropriately perform any recommended post-visit self-care tasks. Integrates patient and family education throughout the delivery of care so they may make informed health related decisions. Provides a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families. Serves as a role model and participates in educating and mentoring other members of the care team. Attends department and organization meetings. Completes annual and as needed compliance training. Practices safe, efficient use of supplies and resources. Other duties as required Overview The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital is a pediatric facility that consists of several units that meet the diverse needs of pediatric patients: Pediatric unit, Pediatric Intermediate unit (PIMU), Pediatric Kostic Infusion Room (PKIR), and Pediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU). We provide care for pediatric patients aged 0 to 18 years. We offer subspecialty services through consultation and referral in areas such as Endocrinology, Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Trauma, and Hematology. The Family-centered rounds are conducted daily with an interdisciplinary care team including physicians, professional nursing services, child life specialists, social services, and nutrition support. All our pediatric units are secured with restricted access for staff, with visitors gaining entry via monitored access. All pediatric patients wear security tags to assure their safety. Our facilities include a teen room, a spacious playroom for younger patients, and a family waiting room. Our Pediatric unit and PIMU have 38-bed capacity. The Pediatric unit is in Kellemen building on South 7th and offers 26 beds. Experience Required 2 years minimum RN pediatrics experience is required. Education Requirements Associates Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing. License/Certification Requirements Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse). Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support). Current NJ-CNOR (Certified Nurse, Operating Room) preferred. Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NALS, PALS). Special Requirements Division-based Baylor must work every weekend (defined as two (2) 12 hour shifts from 7pm Friday to 7am Monday) as determined by patient care and unit staffing needs. Baylor nurses will work either Saturday/Sunday days, Friday/Saturday nights or Saturday/Sunday nights. Baylor nurses work twenty-four (24) hours every weekend and are paid for thirty six hours (24/36).
