This position covers all inpatient units at our 21 bed critical access hospital, Peace Harbor. Per Diem/Day Shift position The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $49.30 – $77.46. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting. Job Summary Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team. Essential Functions Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs. Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards. Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence. Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development. Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required. BSN or MSN preferred. Department Overview 14C Medicine is a 31 bed acute care medicine unit. The 14C Medicine unit provides service to patient populations ages 18-100+ who have a variety of medical, acute care diagnoses and some cardiac conditions, such as atrial arrhythmias and NSTEMI cases. Patients require acute medical and nursing interventions such as intravenous fluids, tube feedings, pain management, respiratory care, including tracheostomy and stable ventilators, cystic fibrosis, antibiotics administration, diabetes management, heart failure care, endocarditis therapy, detox, behavioral and/or crisis management. Unit Vision : "We will provide exceptional care as a collaborative team that honors, respects and values our patients as well as each other" 14C is one of two units that admit psychiatric patients with medical issues which cannot be managed on the inpatient psychiatric unit (1NW). This would include patients on court holds, suicidal ideation; and other psychiatric diagnoses with an overlaying medical condition. Creating a safe environment for this population requires frequent monitoring, documenting and assessment and knowledgeable medication management. Department Overview Acute Care (5A) and Family Medicine (5C) is a conceptually contiguous Family Medicine and General Medicine Acute Care unit with 14 beds on the Family Medicine unit and 23 beds on the Acute Care unit. The patient population is adults who have a variety of medical diagnoses such as Diabetes, End Stage Renal Disease, End Stage Liver Disease, Gastro-Intestinal Disorders, Adult Cystic Fibrosis, chronic and acute pain, infection, diagnostic testing, and psychiatric patients with a medical overlay. Patients require acute medical and nursing interventions such as intravenous fluids, nutritional support, pain management, antibiotics administration, diabetic management, respiratory care, remote telemetry, prepping for procedures, and education to optimize self-care. 5A/5C admits behavioral/psychiatric patients with medical issues that may have suicidal ideation or other behavioral risks that necessitate a court hold. Creating a therapeutic environment for this population includes establishing a therapeutic nurse-patient relationship that facilitates gathering critical patient data and implementing the interdisciplinary plan of care.
