Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and members of the healthcare team. Completes patient intake, including vital signs, height, weight, and hearing and vision screening, as indicated. Identifies care gaps and schedules care gap visits/procedures, as indicated. Prepares consent, school, and work forms for provider to review and sign. Ensures exam rooms are clean and stocked with essential supplies and equipment for patient visits/procedures. Completes point of care testing. Administers in-scope immunizations and medications, as ordered, and provides patients with the most recent Vaccine Information Statement (VIS). Assists practitioners with examinations, including positioning and draping the patient, passing instruments in a sterile manner, and assisting with minor procedures. Documents patient care and education in the electronic medical record. Actively participates in Unit Based Team (UBT) and staff meetings, department-specific education, and quality improvement initiatives. May perform other in-scope duties as assigned.

Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.). Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered. Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards. Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration. Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals. Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation. Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately. Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked. May assist with training and onboarding of other teammates. May serve as a role champion or on a committee. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
