Our Pediatric Hospitalist team is an integral part of the Women and Children’s Services Division, providing care for hospitalized children and newborns in a setting that welcomes approximately 3,400 births each year. With the support of a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) staffed by Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and Neonatologists, as well as close access to pediatric subspecialists and Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs) in Portland, our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to children and families across our community. This position requires a detail‑oriented, compassionate professional who can manage patient assessments, coordinate treatments, and maintain efficient workflow in a fast‑paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a team player who anticipates clinical needs and communicates effectively to enhance patient outcomes. What you'll do Assesses patients and alerts physicians to potential life‑threatening situations, recognizing critical diagnostic data and reporting changes in condition. Obtains brief patient histories per departmental standards, documents vital signs and pertinent information, and reassesses after therapeutic interventions. Determines care priorities and intervenes when cases fall outside normal clinic protocol, such as isolating suspicious rashes and prioritizing potential transfers. Coordinates execution of physician orders, signs off correctly, documents adequately, and anticipates needed diagnostic tests, initiating them per protocol. Recognizes variations in patient flow, adjusts workload to meet department needs, and communicates with coworkers to maintain steady patient progress. Ensures comprehensive discharge instructions are provided, includes family members when possible, refers patients for follow‑up care, and offers community resource information. Performs waived laboratory testing per protocol, demonstrating ongoing competency in patient testing, quality control, and proficiency testing. Demonstrates knowledge of medication safety and security, administering medications within scope of practice and clinic protocols. Maintains competency across all areas of clinical care within the radiation oncology setting. Accurately documents patient visits, telephone calls, refill requests, and other encounters in Epic Ambulatory, ensuring clear follow‑up. Required qualifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire. Medical Assistant Certification, such as or equivalent to: CCMA (AAMA), CCMA (NHA), NCMA (NCCT), RMA (AMT), RMA (AAH), CMAC (AMCA), or NRCMA (NAHP).
