Definition of Position:
Job Summary: The Float Pool Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality patient care across various departments and units within the healthcare facility. This position requires a versatile nurse who can adapt to different clinical environments, demonstrate excellent nursing skills, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in diverse settings, including Medical-Surgical, Emergency Department, ICU, Family Birth Center, and more.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care based on patients' individual needs and established protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate patient care and respond to emergencies promptly.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with facility policies.
- Educate patients and their families regarding health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Serve as a resource for nursing staff and assist with training new team members.
- Adhere to all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards in all clinical environments.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining high standards of patient care.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) acceptable with relevant experience.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting; float pool experience is a plus.
• BLS and ACLS certification required; additional certifications may be required depending on the area of float.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Current RN license in the State of Oregon; ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certification required. Certifications specific to areas of clinical specialty may be preferred.
Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Infusion pumps, and other medical equipment, computer terminal printer, photocopier, and patient charts.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to provide care for the patient's age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial well-being.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and transfer patients, with or without assistance.
• Manual dexterity for handling medical equipment and performing nursing tasks.
Working Conditions:
• Fast-paced clinical environment with fluctuating workloads.
• Exposure to diverse patient populations and clinical scenarios.
