We care for critically ill infants who are born at Rush and/or transferred in from network hospitals. Our patient mix ranges from extremely preterm infants to those with complex surgical needs. Our center has had consistent excellent outcomes in several major neonatal morbidities in very low birth weight infants within the Vermont Oxford Network. The Division partners with Obstetrics and Pediatric subspecialists to provide prenatal care and consultation through our multidisciplinary Fetal-Neonatal Center. Our productive NICU Human Milk research team at Rush conducts clinical and translational research in diverse areas: clinical, neurodevelopmental, and economic outcomes associated with mother’s own milk and donor milk, disparities in lactation, maternal, infant and milk microbiome, human milk science, and lactation physiology. The expectation for this role would be to care for a complex set of patients and work collaboratively with neonatologists, neonatal fellows, pediatric residents, and fellow Advanced Practice Providers. Responsibilities would include delivery room attendance and management, direct patient care, neonatal procedures, and neonatal transport. The schedule for this position rotates and is handled through self-scheduling within guidelines.
