Position Summary The Advanced Practice Provider Educator is an exempt position responsible/accountable for; educating, clinically developing, measuring and documenting competencies, and being an ongoing resource to new and existing Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners throughout the organization. Essential Functions And Responsibilities Includes The Following Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. Educates new and existing PAs/NPs on relevant clinical matters pertinent to the PAs/NPs area of expertise including; but not limited to, medical and surgical diagnoses, common procedures, and department specific needs. Develops, measures, signs off and manages all aspects of clinical competencies Collaborates with the Medical Staff Office to account for appropriate Delineation of Privileges (DOP) for new and existing PAs/NPs Works with appropriate Lead APPs to manage onboarding checklist for each new APP Utilize many methods for continuing education (i.e. lecture series, simulation lab, on-line resources, etc) Be an ongoing resource for staff to develop and evolve clinically Supports new PAs/NPs in their on-boarding process Develops evidence-based standards of care, policies and procedures, etc. as needed for the area of responsibility Participates in committees, task forces, projects, etc. as required Orchestrates education around billing, coding, and compliance Work with medical staff ,nursing, care management, administration and other colleagues with a team approach and perspective Familiar with anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine and physical diagnosis Demonstrates ability to collaborate effectively all disciplines and specialties throughout the organization Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with all other disciplines in the medical arena Performs all other related duties as assigned Education & Experience Requirements NP/PA education experience preferred Simulation Experience Preferred If a Physician Assistant: Current New York State Licensed Physician Assistant Current National Certification If a Nurse Practitioner Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse Current NYS certification as a Nurse Practitioner Current National Certification Minimum Of 5 Years Of Clinical Experience Required Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Proficiency in procedures, techniques and skills approved in their delineation of privileges Salary: $127,569 - $189,774 (based on Full-Time Employment)
Position Summary/ Department Summary: Brief Overview Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Educator Diabetes Key Responsibilities: Coordinating patient self-management initiatives in a family centric program for pediatric and adolescent patients in Boston Children’s Hospital’s Division of Endocrinology’s ADA recognized outpatient diabetes self-management education program. The program uses a multi-disciplinary approach in the management of children and adolescents with diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, steroid induced and cystic fibrosis related) and their families. Working with patients diagnosed with diabetes and their families, to facilitate improving self-management age specific goals for all patients; providing lifestyle coaching, and conducting one-on-one patient visits and group visits in a hospital clinic setting. Providing patient and family education; collaborating with outside community resources including but not limited to school and insurer-based case coordination services. Providing case management including oversight and interpretation of laboratory results for patients with diabetes; ordering of therapeutics, durable medical supplies and refills for prescription medications; as well as coordination of referrals and diagnostic studies as needed in consultation with the patient’s physician. Working 40 hours per week, day shift M-F. (Availability to work at Weymouth and N. Dartmouth primarily as well as some time in Boston) Minimum Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in Nursing with FNP or PNP (for NPs) Experience: Minimum 1 year RN experience required. Minimum 2 years as a Diabetes Nurse Educator with a strong clinical background and experience in content areas such as patient education, diabetes, diabetes technologies (insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, smart pens), nutrition, physical fitness and other health related topics preferred. Knowledge of community resources and previous experience working with diverse patient populations across the age spectrum. The ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team which includes nutrition, social workers, physicians, and other diabetes nurse educators. Effective and energetic style to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships and self-directed skills with a strong desire to impact patients with diabetes and their families. Licensure/ Certifications: A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Nurse Practitioner DEA and MCSR licensure Current certification in diabetes education (CDCES) preferred but must acquire within 1 year of employment.
