The Med-Surg at Pen Bay provides expert care to patients requiring telemetry, progressive care, palliative care, and hospice. Summary Our nurse resident program is designed to support newly graduated registered nurses as they transition from a student to a confident competent health professional. This program combines hands-on clinical experience with education, mentorship and development. Residents work alongside experienced preceptors gaining exposure to the unit specialty while building strong clinical skills. The Registered Nurse - New Graduate - Acute Care role is working progressively towards competency and independence in the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. GRADE 20 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH - Kent County Health Department 300 Scheeler Road Chestertown, MD 21620 Main Purpose of Job A Registered Nurse Charge Medical is the lead level of work responsible for nursing care to patients in a residential substance disorder treatment facility providing twenty-four hour care. A Registered Nurse Charge Medical provides nursing care in a professional manner. Job Summary and Qualifications GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Manages one or more clinical and administrative functions related to the operations and quality of the clinic or practice. Serves in a leadership role within the practice. Typically functions within a Level 4 (net revenue of 7M-14M) or Level 5 Practice (net revenue exceeding 14M). SUPERVISOR: DAVP or DPS (per Division structure) DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: • May have direct patient care duties. • Helps establish/implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems for the assigned clinical areas. • Participates in the development and implementation of clinical plans. • Selects, trains/orients, and supervises departmental personnel. Responsible for work assignment and daily operations. • Evaluates performance and recommends merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions. • Resolves problems in clinical areas and ensures compliance with regulations and standards. • Helps fiscal management and other administrative staff to develop/implement cost effective policies and procedures for all clinical areas, as well as billing, insurance, fee schedules, credit/collections, purchasing, and space planning. • Monitors and controls clinical expenditures to remain within budget. • Serves as liaison between clinic and external agencies. • Works with medical staff to ensure quality patient care and services are provided. • Participates in professional development activities to keep current with health care trends and practices. • Maintains strictest confidentiality. • Performs related work as required. • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”. EDUCATION: • Graduate from an accredited school or program in nursing is required. EXPERIENCE: • Minimum of two year of experience in a medical office, acute care or clinical outpatient setting is required. A minimum of one-year previous supervisory experience in a medical office, acute care or outpatient setting is required. CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: • RN license and CPR Certification - required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and systems. • Knowledge of health care administration practices. • Knowledge of computer systems and applications. • Knowledge of government and reimbursement regulations and requirements. • Skill in planning, organizing, delegating and supervising. • Skill in verbal and written communication. • Skill in researching, preparing, and presenting comprehensive reports. • Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision‐making and problem-solving expertise. • Ability to work effectively with staff, patients, public, external agencies.
