Educate patients and their families about the surgical procedure, addressing any concerns or questions. Ensure pre-operative instructions are understood and followed, including fasting protocols and medication management. Start IV lines, administer pre-operative medications, and prepare documentation. Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU): Monitor patients' vital signs and recovery progress immediately following surgery. Provide comprehensive care, addressing pain management, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms. Communicate findings and patient status effectively with anesthesiologists and surgical teams. Ensure that patients meet discharge criteria and provide thorough post-operative care instructions to patients and their caregivers.
