Nurse Practitioner - Emergency Division (CSSD)

This employment opportunity is being recruited by Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego on behalf of Children's Specialists of San Diego. The Nurse Practitioner, ED-UC provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education to children and families in clinical settings. This position is accountable for a defined patient population under the supervision of a licensed physician and is the primary provider of care to acute, critical, complex chronically ill and well pediatric patients collaboratively with the Divisions of Emergency Medicine, or Urgent Care. Note: Nurse Practitioners assigned to work in Urgent Care are required to report to work at multiple Urgent Care locations on a regular basis. Nurse Practitioners assigned to Emergency Medicine will be required to work at additional locations on occasion. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Nursing Current California Nurse Practitioner license Current BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA Furnishing Number, State of California (Must obtain within 1 year of employment) DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications (Must obtain within 1 year of employment) Medicare Billing number (NPI-National Provider Identifier) (Must obtain within 6 months of employment) Certification: Nurse Practitioner, National (must obtain within 1 year of employment) Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services Successfully complete the requirements of the PA Practice Agreement for the assigned division PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 2 Years of Experience in a direct clinical care position with emphasis in specialty area Current PALS Certification, issued by AHA Experience in specialty area as a Nurse Practitioner Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills Bilingual The expected hiring range for this position is $74.51 to $102.45 Children’s Specialists of San Diego is committed to compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable. Supervisor, Nursing Unit (RN) - Emergency Department (Nights)

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Unit/Department Manager, this position is assigned supervisory and clinical responsibilities of the nursing unit/department and staff related to the coordination and operation of the department/unit. Team member responsibilities include leading, supervising, and influencing the daily operational activities associated with the assigned team. Supports the overall business plan by monitoring team performance and outcomes relative to established goals/measurements. Participates in rotational on-call duties including, but not limited to, responding to emergency situations, maintenance malfunctions, or staffing situations that require coverage. Rady Children’s offers pediatric urgent care services throughout San Diego County, with Urgent Care sites located in La Mesa, Mid-City/City Heights, Chula Vista, Escondido, and Oceanside. With each Urgent Care site open 365 days a year, 4pm to 10pm weekdays and 1pm to 10pm on weekends, our sites are fast paced, serving an average of 60,000 pediatric patients a year. Our staff members, which include pediatric physician specialists and nurses are educated and trained to care for the special needs of children. JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Nurse II collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members. Responsible for independently applying the nursing process through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of pediatric patient care. Resolves patient problems and needs by applying multidisciplinary team strategies. Selects and coordinates the appropriate care, taking into consideration the age, developmental level and size of the patient. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration, storage procedures and controlled substance regulations. Should be able to identify own limitations and seek resources as needed.
