JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Nurse II collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members. Responsible for independently applying the nursing process through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of pediatric patient care. Resolves patient problems and needs by applying multidisciplinary team strategies. Selects and coordinates the appropriate care, taking into consideration the age, developmental level and size of the patient. Registered Nurse (RN) (Per-Diem) - Hematology/Oncology Outpatient, San Diego, CA

Per-Diem RN position at the Rady Proton Center Located inside of the California Protons Cancer Therapy Center, the Rady's Proton Center provides proton radiation as part of cancer therapy for pediatric patients from all around the globe. This position is for registered nurses who have reasonable availability to work on a per-diem schedule, and also have prior work experience with some of the following: Prior pediatric nursing experience within radiation oncology or: hematology/oncology (inpatient and/or outpatient) PICU PACU OR radiology plus more... Experience with the following pediatric nursing skills: general anesthesia (monitoring during and/or recovery) administering IV medications drawing labs via central line or peripheral venipuncture starting IV's central line care (to include dressing changes, accessing port-a-cath's, medication administration, etc.) CT, MRI, PET/CT plus more... The Proton Center is open from 0600 to 1830, Monday through Friday, and closed on major holidays. The nurse hired for this position would be used to fill gaps within the staffing schedule to meet the center's care demands appropriately. Individuals having a reasonable amount of flexibility to meet the center's requirements for staffing will be strongly considered upon selection for hiring.
