Our CRNAs work in an anesthesia care team model alongside a private group of physician anesthesiologists to provide coverage for pediatric, neuro, ortho, trauma, general, vascular, obstetric, urological and thoracic cases. Experienced as well as new graduate CRNAs are welcome to apply. Minimum Qualifications Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and APRN-CRNA in the State of Maine. Must have graduated from a nurse anesthesiology program accredited by the Council on Accreditation. Must be board certified as a CRNA by NBCRNA. Must possess a comprehensive understanding of all procedures and equipment used to administer anesthesia to various age groups, acuity levels and case types. Must be certified in ACLS, PALS and BLS. In addition to the above summary the Lead CRNA will be responsible for running the daily board for CRNAs in conjunction with manager and/or anesthesiologist. The Lead CRNA will assume a supervisory role for a subset of employees, as delegated by the leaders In collaboration with the CRNA leadership team, they will be responsible for fostering CRNA development through goal setting, team building, continuing education, and performance management. Performs appropriate techniques of the anesthetic plan such as, but not limited to, insertion of intravenous catheters, insertion of invasive monitoring catheters according to established protocol; administration of analgesic blocks; endotracheal intubation and extubation; performing arterial punctures for interpretation of arterial blood gases. 5. Monitors the patient’s physical response to the anesthetic and informs the clinical team of any adverse condition. Manages the anesthesia process to include induction, maintenance, and emergence of general, regional, and monitored anesthesia cases. Recognizes abnormal patient responses to anesthesia or to any adjunctive medication or form of therapy. Initiate corrective measures. Determines the need for additional laboratory tests and provide resuscitative care as necessary. Evaluate and manage the patient in the immediate post-operative period. 6. Administers IV fluids relative to the patient’s medical history and surgical procedure. Administer blood products after obtaining a hematocrit. 7. Appropriately documents the patient status in the anesthesia record. 8. Performs all required safety and performance checks on anesthesia-related equipment and verify the appropriate supplies before initiating care. Procure and assemble equipment and supplies as indicated if anesthesia tech is not available. 9. In accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards, reviews appropriate documentation for informed consent and identify appropriate surgical site during SBAR with circulating RN and holding room RN. Participates in surgical pause in the OR with surgical team in accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards. 10. Communicates appropriately with all individuals involved in the peri-operative and post-operative care of the patient. 11. Assists with the teaching and evaluation of newly-hired CRNAs, SRNAs, and medical students in the clinical area, as applicable. 12. Observes and informs the surgeon of changes in patient's condition as circumstances warrant and institutes resuscitative measures in support of and restorative to the health of the patient. Accompanies patient to the recovery room and informs the nurse assuming responsibility for the patient's care during anesthesia emergence and in the immediate post-operative recovery period of all essential data necessary for the patient's optimal recovery. Visits the patient post-operatively and notes any untoward reactions or complications attributable to the anesthesia. Follows up as required.
