Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nurse Assistant / Mental Health Tech to join our team at the JSH Medical Center. This full-time, regular/at-will position is integral to our commitment to providing exceptional patient care. The successful candidate will assist licensed personnel in a variety of tasks aimed at maintaining patient comfort, hygiene, and well-being. Essential functions of the role include attending to patients' personal hygiene needs, assisting with activities of daily living, performing intake and output measurements, checking vital signs, collecting specimens, and providing post-mortem care. The role also involves ensuring patient comfort, working effectively as part of a healthcare team, assisting in the orientation of new employees, and utilizing resources in a safe and efficient manner. Maintaining a clean and safe environment for both patients and co-workers is paramount, as is the transportation of patients and equipment when necessary. Prompt response to patients' call lights and requests, reporting patient observations to nurses, and maintaining a professional demeanor are also key responsibilities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate dependability through punctuality and consistent attendance, maintain good working relationships through effective communication, and may perform specialized tasks with appropriate training and approval. Flexibility in accepting reassignments to meet the care needs of all patients is expected. The position is based at the JSH Medical Center and does not offer per diem.

Essential Job Functions 1. Places the patients in the examination room. Takes histories and physical exam information. Obtains vital signs, ascertains patient complaint or reason for visit and enters the information into the patient’s record. Checks the patient record to insure all required information has been obtained and completed. 2. Completes disability status sheet and fax to proper places, as requested. 3. Writes school/work excuses and provider orders, and has provider sign. 4. Prior to patient visit, performs the following: a. Ensures that all equipment in exam room is clean and properly set up. b. Ensures supplies are adequate. 5. Cleans and restocks examination rooms for the day’s use. Reviews patient records, x-rays, and test results for the day’s visit and prepares necessary paperwork. 6. Accompanies the provider while seeing patients, when appropriate. 7. Screens telephone calls for the provider, and takes clinical messages, as appropriate. 8. Answers patient inquiries with respect to medical questions within the scope of practice and practice policy. 9. Takes calls from the pharmacist. Calls or electronically submits prescriptions and prescription refills to pharmacy as directed by the provider. 10. Coordinates diagnostic and laboratory services for patients on an outpatient basis such as PT, MRIs, Bone Scans, CTs, etc. and completes proper paperwork. 11. Assists provider in examination and surgical or diagnostic procedures and treatment, as well as preps patients. 12. Marks superbill or documents EHR for any procedures and injections performed and any supplies used. 13. Makes arrangements with proper agencies for administration of patient home health care as directed by provider. 14. Coordinates provider referrals to other providers and relays proper information about the patient. 15. Maintains all clinical equipment to include sterilizing, as applicable. Evaluates all equipment for damage or maintenance needs, and reports information to the Practice Manager. 16. Checks clinical supplies and initiates the ordering process. 17. Via electronic, paper or other forms of receipt reviews and completes clinical mail for the provider when appropriate/authorized. 18. Prepares patient insurance forms completely prior to giving to provider for review and signature.
To coordinate and implement quality nursing care for the surgical patient in an efficient and safe manner consistent with Standards of Care. Performance consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the unit and JSH may be demonstrated by remaining flexible to change, integrating quality in daily work habits, and treating all customers and peers with respect and consideration. • ON-CALL COVERAGE AND ROTATION FOR NIGHTS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS IS REQUIRED. • Practices within the scope of license. • Administers medication observing the "5 rights". • Administers medication correctly based on patient's age and clinical condition. • Utilizes two identifiers for proper patient identification. • Performs skills and tasks required by unit expectations. • Completes nursing HX and assessment accurately within expected time frames. • Responsible and accountable for all actions. • Other duties as assigned.
