A nurse proudly uses her SRNA resume skills.

If you’re ready for the next phase of your career as a state registered nurse aide (SRNA), you’re going to need to update your resume. This is your opportunity to list out your education, work history, and professional accomplishments. A hiring manager might come to your resume and cover letter after reading 10 others, so it’s important to set yourself apart.

A standout SRNA resume helps you showcasing your skills, experiences, and commitment to patient care. Here are some general tips to follow as you’re writing your own:

  • Emphasize skills from the job posting. While you’re drafting your resume, it might be helpful to have the job listing pulled up so you can use the skills that they list. This shows that you’ve researched the job, and that your experience makes you a great fit for their needs.
  • Format for readability. Hiring managers should be able to farm essential information from your resume at a glance. Share your experiences using an objective statement, bullets, lists, headings, and short sentences, and use sections to organize information.
  • Quantify achievements. When possible, use data to show your experience. For example, you might include the ratios of patients you’ve cared for per shift, or the number of awards you’ve received from patients.
  • Non-work experiences matter. Even if you’re applying to your first jobs as a SRNA, you’ve still probably got valuable care experiences under your belt. Include volunteering, skills you’ve learned in caring for family members, and what you learned in your SRNA course.

Follow these tips to write a great resume. If you’re looking for more information about writing your resume, check out our nursing resume guide. We’ve also written an SRNA resume example for you below.
