Summary Note: this is a non-benefitted PRN or variable day / hours position. Position entails providing availability in advance for planned coverage needs. Thus, shifts and hours may vary. Position Highlights Performs procedures commonly used to render the patient insensible to pain during the performance of surgical, therapeutic, or diagnostic clinical procedures. These procedures include ordering and administering regional, spinal, and general anesthesia as per American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) guidelines. Recognize and take appropriate corrective action for abnormal patient responses to anesthesia, adjunctive medication, or other forms of therapy. Support life functions during anesthesia, including induction and intubation, the use of appropriate mechanical ventilation, and the management of fluid, electrolyte, and blood components. Participate in management of the patient while in the post anesthesia recovery area, including ordering the administration of fluids and drugs and completing a post-operative anesthesia evaluation. Assists in checking medication regardless of packaging system. Counts all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift. Maintains and cleans the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness cleanliness, availability of medications and expired medications. Follows re-fill process for medications. Participates in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates. Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse and respiration rates. Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks and hazardous chemicals immediately. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Qualifications: High School diploma/GED Must be 18 years of age. CPR Certification preferred First Aid Certification preferred Previous experience working with seniors preferred. Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing the individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients’ health through the nursing process. The RN provides direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, evaluation, and patient health education within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities Coordinates care in collaboration with members of the patient’s treatment team to provide assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation services. Performs physical exams, health histories, nursing assessment and routine observation for patients within established time frames. Provides direct patient care including administering medications, wound care, injections, intravenous infusions and other treatment interventions while operating standard critical care equipment safely and correctly. Recognizes and intervenes in life threatening emergencies, including the administration of emergency drugs, and defibrillator or other emergency treatment. Documents patient assessment findings, care rendered, procedures performed, and other various aspects of patient plan of care making periodic updates related to the patient’s condition and response to treatment. Provides patient and family health education based on assessed needs for indicated health conditions, medications, overall wellness, and directions for follow up care.
