Pediatric Surgery Center - 4 ORs ASC - OR Circulator, manages all aspects of the suite Job Title: OR Circulating Registered Nurse JOB SUMMARY: The Operating Room (OR) Circulating Registered Nurse (RN) acts as a patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through collaboration with other members of the health care team. The OR Circulating RN supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the facility. Perioperative needs of individual patients will be assessed by the OR Circulating RN, including pediatric and adolescent patients. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assessment/Planning: Assesses clinical status while incorporating growth and development and psychosocial implications. Plans individualized care for patient/family while taking into consideration evidence-based practice. Demonstrates visual, auditory, and tactile data collection regarding current and historical patient status. Organizes a patient assignment and can prioritize care and delegate when appropriate. Uses time efficiently. Identifies potential problems and communicates appropriately when needed. • Implementation/Evaluation: Implements the nursing plan of care while incorporating evidence-based practice and the medical plan. Communicates appropriately with patients/family and members of the health care team. Evaluates the effectiveness of the patient/family’s response to care given by the health care team and revises the plan of care as necessary. • Documentation: Accurately documents and updates pertinent aspects of patient care (assessment, care plan, flow sheet, etc.) in the patient’s medical record in designated areas. Documents unusual occurrences and provides appropriate follow-through in a timely manner. • Communication: Demonstrates effective communication skills as evidenced by being respectful, use of positive body language and tone, and appropriate eye contact. Able to adapt to the communication styles of others to accomplish effective communication. Utilizes active listening skills, clarifies understanding and asks open-ended questions to facilitate discussions. Communicates clearly and accurately with staff, patients, families and visitors regarding patient care. Develops and communicates teaching plan for the patient/family that incorporates the nursing plan and the medical plan, utilizing a multidisciplinary approach. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience Degree from an accredited school of nursing - Required Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred) Minimum of 2 years' work experience as a Registered Nurse (Pediatrics preferred) in the Operating Room setting. What Qualifications You Will Need: Graduate of an accredited NP program. At least two-year experience as a nurse practitioner. Cardiac experience preferred. Worked in acute care unit minimum of 5 years preferred Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) from an agency accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS). Current BCLS and ACLS required. An individual DEA license issued by the United States DEA for Scheduled II-V controlled substances. Qualifications: • Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing; current state RN license. • CPR and ACLS required. • Minimum one year in the OR, ability to scrub as well as circulate preferred.
