Doula Resume Example and Writing Tips

Looking for a doula job? A strong doula resume can help you stand out in this intimate and highly personal field. Whether you’re new to birth work or have years of experience, your resume should highlight your ability to provide compassionate, nonclinical support to clients during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Being a great doula doesn’t just require training, but also trust, confidence, and the ability to connect with people in vulnerable moments. Your resume should reflect your skills in communication, emotional support, and client advocacy, as well as your relevant training, certifications, and childbirth education.

Use these tips as you draft or edit your resume:

• Certifications: Include credentials like Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), Birth Doula Certification (offered by DONA), Certified Labor Doula (CLD), or ICEA certifications. And be sure to note any specialized training in lactation, trauma-informed care, or postpartum support.
• Highlight specific doula skills: Breastfeeding support, postpartum care, and medical coding are excellent doula resume skills to include, alongside soft skills like cultural competency, patient education, and advocacy.
