EY Announces IntelyCare Co-Founders as Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2022 New England Award Winners

QUINCY, Mass, June 13, 2022 – Ernst & Young LLP (EY US) announced that David Coppins, Ike Nnah, and Chris Caulfield, co-founders of IntelyCare, have been named Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2022 New England Award winners. EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year is one of the preeminent competitive business awards for entrepreneurs and leaders of high-growth companies who think big to succeed. An independent panel of judges selected the IntelyCare co-founders based on their entrepreneurial spirit, purpose, growth and impact, among other core contributions and attributes.

“This is an incredible honor that Ike, Chris, and I are humbled by and truly grateful for,” said David Coppins, co-founder and CEO, IntelyCare. “When we started IntelyCare, we knew that there was a serious issue with the working model for nurses in this country that could be fixed with the right technology. While there is still a lot of work to be done to improve the working lives of nurses, I’m happy to report that our technology is making an impact. We’re more committed than ever to continuing our mission to give nurses freedom and flexibility, enable healthcare organizations to stay fully staffed, and ensure patients get the care they deserve.”

Founded in 2016, IntelyCare is now the leading tech-enabled nurse staffing platform for healthcare organizations in the United States. Using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science, IntelyCare’s platform schedules and matches nursing professionals with open assignments at the healthcare organizations it partners with. The scheduling control provided to nurses and nursing assistants is unprecedented in the profession, helping to reduce burnout among a dwindling workforce that is expected to be short 1.1 million nurses by 2025. For healthcare organizations, IntelyCare helps to increase patient census, reduce operating costs, and increase control of how they manage their workforce.

In 2015, Nnah, the company’s Chief Technology Officer, met Caulfield, its Chief Nursing Officer, while the two worked together at a hospital. As both had experienced firsthand the struggles and dangers that come with a shortage of nursing staff, they began discussing ideas to overcome the issues with technology. In 2016, they brought in Coppins to launch IntelyCare as a tech-based nurse per-diem staffing business focused on the post-acute care space. IntelyCare released its first mobile app that year and signed its first contract with Pope Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in Massachusetts.

Under the leadership of Coppins, Nnah, and Caulfield, IntelyCare has scaled rapidly. In 2022, the company announced that it had secured $115 million in a Series C financing round, valuing IntelyCare at $1.1 billion. Since its launch, IntelyCare has been committed to advocating for the needs of nurses and consistently striving to provide ways for nurses to nurture their mental well-being, advance their careers, and receive fair compensation. IntelyCare has also remained steadfast in helping healthcare organizations improve staffing levels to provide patients with better, more consistent care.

As New England award winners, Coppins, Nnah, and Caulfield will now be considered by the National independent panel of judges for the Entrepreneur Of The Year 2022 National Awards. National finalists and winners, as well as the Entrepreneur Of The Year National Overall Award winner, will be announced in November at the annual Strategic Growth Forum®. The Entrepreneur Of The Year National Overall Award winner will then move on to compete for the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Award in June 2023.
