Serves as a preceptor, and a clinical resource to others. Assumes responsibility for individual specified unit clinical projects and oversees service lines as needed. Minimum Job Requirements Education Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology required or successful completion of military training program for Surgical Technology or Operating Room Specialist. Certification / License Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider required. Current certification required. Work Experience 5 years of total operating room experience in surgical technologist role required; 2 years of specialized training in one of the following areas, neurosurgery, and spine, cardiothoracic, vascular, complex ortho, and robotics required. Meets all ST III qualifications of Surgical Tech Ladder. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to age-specific issues and data reflective of the patient's status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the following age groups: Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Works with occasional intermittent noise and exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, and chemicals. Position Summary The Surgical Technologist is an integral member of the patient care team. General Summary The Surgical Technologist is a professional caregiver who works with Anesthesia, surgeons, and other surgical personnel in patient care before, during and after surgery. The Surgical Technologist uses sterile technique and technical equipment to perform surgical procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists with surgical procedures (C-sections) in Labor & Delivery operating room. Anticipates surgical team needs, and demonstrates dexterity. Mentors support staff on instruments and equipment. (E 5%) 7.Assess status of instrumentation and advise on needs for purchase and/or replacement of instruments, supplies and equipment using a cost conscious approach. Assists with long term planning for service line growth.
