Provides and/or coordinates with other disciplines patient/family education according to identified care needs, considering assessment of patient/family’s readiness to learn. Documentation reflects accurate assessment/evaluation, modification, and patient’s response to therapy, changes in condition, and therapeutic interventions/procedures. Develops wound/ostomy educational materials for health care team, patient and family: Develop and revise clinical pathways for wound care. Revise teaching sheets, policies, and CPG’s related to skin integrity, wounds, wound vacs and ostomies. Provide educational materials for patients and staff in regards to common skin, wound and ostomy problems. Provide educational offerings/presentations for staff regarding skin, wound, and ostomy care. Revise the wound and ostomy formularies to assure the organization is providing excellence in wound and ostomy care in the most cost effective manner Provides leadership in the monitoring of prevalence and incidence of pressure ulcers within the organization. Develops, enters data, and compiles reports from skin, wound, ostomy data base. Promotes pediatric research by implementing research findings into practice. Accepts assignments to share/teach knowledge and provide clinical support. Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree From an accredited college or university in nursing Required Experience Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in nursing required, preferably in pediatrics Required Skills And Abilities Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with multiple disciplines. Legible handwriting skills. Ability to be self-directed, with minimum supervision, and detail oriented.
