General Summary ​ The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care using the nursing process, demonstrating clinical competence relevant to the area of nursing practice, and adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follows established hospital policy regarding patient safety measures such as infection prevention, safe patient handling and movement, critical lab notification, etc. to provide patient care in an optimally safe environment. Maintains and cares for central lines and prevents surgical site infections per policy. Provides quality nursing care including administration of medications, nursing intervention, and patient and family teaching. Performs such actions within the guidelines established in hospital policy and procedure to support quality outcomes and patient safety. Performs initial and ongoing assessments in all aspects of patient care to monitor patient status, improve quality, enhance patient safety, and to provide accurate information to health care team members. Documents all patient care activities and required quality monitoring items to comply with established quality measures and support clinical decision making. Communicates patient information to physicians and appropriate team members to improve patient outcomes. Delegates as appropriate while maintaining an atmosphere fostering team work and accountability. Communicates with patient and family members in a timely manner to enhance the patient experience and provide education to support health care outcomes. Demonstrates critical thinking into nursing practice and attempts to develop skills and abilities through continuing education. Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Work Experience One year experience preferred. Certification/License Current RN license in the State of Missouri or Compact Licensure. Graduate nurses (GNs) must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Mental/Physical Requirements Considerable mental concentration required. Lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities, standing, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching and nearly constant walking required. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious disease and communicable disease via blood and other bodily fluids. May encounter hostile persons at times. General Summary The Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse Reviewer (CCLNR) collects and submits reliable data to the NCDR program by performing high-quality clinical screening, data compilation, documentation and entry into the database of all eligible procedures, in both inpatient and outpatient settings, for Phelps Health. The CCLNR works closely with the members of the Department of Clinical Quality and Measurement to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects as may be identified. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensures the reliable, accurate and timely collection of data components for the program through effective utilization of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Identifies cath lab patients for inclusion in the program registry through the application of strict program inclusion/exclusion criteria. Demonstrates applicability of the methodology and the reliability of definitions utilized by reviewers within the program. Identifies areas for streamlining and process improvement in the data collection and cardiac cath lab process. Maintains compliance with federal, state and regulatory body laws and regulations. Monitors other quality indicators and efficiency measures identified outside what is required for NCDR. Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor’s in Nursing preferred. Work Experience Three (3) years’ experience in inpatient cath lab nursing preferred. Quality improvement and patient safety knowledge is preferred. Certification/License Current RN license in the State of Missouri or Compact Licensure. Mental/Physical Requirements Considerable mental concentration for sustained periods of time with frequent interruptions. Light lifting (15 lbs.) required. Standing, sitting and walking required. General Summary The Medical Assistant functions within his/her skill set in providing patient care as delegated by the clinic LPN/RN, physician or mid-level provider (APP). Must be well organized, display’s a high level of professionalism, excellent customer service skills, detail oriented, able to multitask efficiently, critical thinker and able to perform in a fast-paced work environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follows established hospital policy regarding patient safety measures such as infection prevention, safe patient handling and movement, notification of the licensed nurse when patient condition changes to ensure that patient care is provided in an optimally safe environment. Provides direct interaction to patients in the clinic including escorting patients to rooms, obtaining vital signs, EKG’s, verification of medications, allergies, past medical/surgical/family history and chief complaint/visit reason according to provider preference, documenting accurate information in the patient chart in a timely manner. Routes phone messages, patient questions, and telephone communications to appropriate personnel. Acts as a general liaison between physician/APP and patient. Calls patients with normal/abnormal test results, answer’s questions and assisting physician with return calls. Assists with renewal and authorization of medications and administers medications (oral, IM and SQ) as ordered. Performs point of care lab testing and obtains blood samples and other specimens for lab testing as ordered. Schedules appointments, surgeries, diagnostic procedures, and admissions (remove) as ordered by the physician. Completes necessary paperwork, prior authorization, referrals and documentation in a timely manner. Monitors supply inventory, assuring adequate supplies, cleans and stocks exam areas. Informs and sets up patients and/or guardian for My Chart at the time of service and informs and educates patients regarding the benefits of signing up for My Chart. Assists in orientating and training new medical assistants. Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, handles change, sets personal standards, stays focused under pressure, works as a team and assists all team members (remove), and meets attendance/punctuality requirements. Education Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program required or equivalent amount of working experience as a Medical Assistant or Registered/Certified as a Medical Assistant. High school diploma. Work Experience One-year Medical Assistant or other medical specialist experience preferred but not required. Medical Clinic experience preferred. Performs point of care lab testing and obtains blood samples and other specimens for lab testing as ordered. Informs and sets up patients and/or guardian for My Chart at the time of service and informs and educates patients regarding the benefits of signing up for My Chart. Provides patient teaching and supportive services as needed. Provides treatments as ordered. Schedules diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, obtain’ s precertification and authorization as required by payers and ordered by provider. Trains LPN and MA in the clinic role. Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, handles change, sets personal standards, stays focused under pressure, is a team player, and meets attendance/punctuality requirements.
