Nursing Responsibilities: Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following: Administer medications Perform medical intakes and assess if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider Performing 14-day physicals Managing chronic care Providing patient education on health concerns Responding to medical emergencies Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency. Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis. FLSA Status Non-Exempt Job Role Summary The Staff Nurse II provides clinical care and uses coordination skills for every patient served. This includes understanding of the expected patients served in the unit'(s) nursing care is delivered using the Eskenazi Health Model of Care-Synergy, the ability to coordinate with the patient and family/loved ones and other healthcare disciplines to ensure care is appropriate to meet patient care needs.
