Ensure proper documentation of all patient care activities, including treatments, complications, and follow-ups in compliance with regulatory requirements. Respond to and manage patient emergencies or complications during dialysis treatments. Promote patient education regarding dialysis procedures, disease management, and lifestyle modifications. Staff Management & Development Recruit, orient, and supervise clinical staff, including dialysis nurses and technicians, for both chronic and acute programs. Conduct ongoing training and competency assessments to ensure staff deliver safe and effective care. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth. Provide leadership and mentorship to nursing staff, promoting evidence-based practices and continuous improvement. Manages staff scheduling and payroll. Conduct performance evaluations and implement corrective actions when necessary. Implement the Children’s National shared governance nursing model at the unit level. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure the facility complies with all federal, state, and local regulations, including those set by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Responsible for all required network reporting and on-site state or federal surveys. Prepare the facility and staff for regulatory inspections, audits, and certifications. Lead the facility's Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, focusing on continuous improvement of patient care and operational efficiency. Track and report adverse events, infection control issues, and quality metrics for both chronic and acute programs. Implement corrective action plans to address identified gaps in care, workflow, or compliance. Program Oversight Lead the chronic dialysis program, ensuring continuity of care for patients receiving long-term dialysis. Manage the acute dialysis program, coordinating timely treatment for hospitalized or critically ill patients. Coordinate with hospital units, physicians, and outpatient services to provide seamless patient care transitions. Evaluate program performance, patient outcomes, and resource utilization, implementing improvements as needed. Administrative Duties Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation for both dialysis programs. Oversee supply and equipment management, ensuring adequate availability for patient care. Maintain budgetary oversight and control costs while meeting clinical and operational goals. Serve as a liaison between patients, families, medical staff, and external stakeholders. Participate in strategic planning and decision-making to enhance program growth and quality. Other duties as assigned.
