Newport News, Virginia Overview Performs duties under the direction or supervision of a licensed medical practitioner or a registered nurse. Responsible for conducting a focused assessment of the patient to include vital signs and gathering data, implementing established plans of care, and evaluating effectiveness of treatments in the medical practice setting. May float to other practices within the region providing operational support as needed. What you will do Accurately completes all required clinical documentation consistently per Riverside Medical Group standards. Maintains documentation for quality assurance to include but not limited to point of care testing, medication logs and annual wellness visits. Works with providers to assure care gaps are routinely addressed with each patient. Documentation is accurate, legible and completed same day. Knowledgeable and skillful in lab functions and lab proficiency testing. Maintains excellent clinical competency by adhering to the standard clinical expectations for Riverside Medical Group. This includes updating, verifying, and maintaining patient records by properly interviewing the patient and confirming purpose of visit. Prepares patient for examination by obtaining vital signs proficiently (including manual vital signs when mechanical devices are not available). Prepare and sanitize exam rooms before and after patient appointments. Administer medications and vaccines under the supervision of a physician. Assists with processing prescription refill requests for approval and forwarding to pharmacies. Maintains medical inventory of supplies and keep exam rooms stocked appropriately. Keeps any necessary equipment in operating order and facilitating preventive maintenance when needed. Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations with scope of practice, HIPAA, and OSHA standards. Completes all required competencies and education to maintain skill level to provide safe patient care. Provides patient education as needed and educates patients as necessary about the medications prescribed for them. Demonstrates positive patient care by explaining the importance of the completion of registration and patient medical history forms and how it relates to their care at our facility. Provides patient follow up with a sense of urgency regarding lab calls, patient phone calls, prescription fills and refills, referrals and appointment scheduling. Answer telephone calls from patients, pharmacies, physicians, vendors, etc. by close of business. Communicate lab/pathology results and schedules additional tests per provider order. Ensures proper reimbursement from insurance companies by performing pre-authorization for prescription drugs, procedures, and patient tests. Demonstrates the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs. Actively participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings as assigned.
