Overview 3 South is an 18 bed-unit in which the Registered Nurse (RN) provides care for patients admitted for general cardiac diagnoses as well as sepsis, COPD, pneumonia, and stroke. The RN also cares for patients requiring antiarrhythmic non-titrated drips. The patient population served tends to have multiple diagnoses requiring the RN to work closely with all of our Cardiologists as well as our Hospitalists to provide comprehensive care. Overview The Nursery Registered Nurse (RN) will assume responsibility and accountability for care of neonates ranging from well newborn infants to those with special or intensive care nursery needs. Our Nursery is an 8 bed Level II special care nursery unit which provides care to newborns delivered in our Labor & Delivery unit who are under the care of our Pediatric physician teams from four local clinics. Common diagnosis and care provided to newborns in our Nursery include respiratory distress and oxygen support, jaundice and phototherapy, antibiotic therapy, hypoglycemia management and care of premature infants 32 weeks and older. Our Women’s & Infants’ team is supported by a full-time W&I Licensed Social Worker, Inpatient and Outpatient Lactation Support Services and a Women’s Center Outreach team. Our Nursery is a proud member of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Nursery Alliance aimed at working together for exceptional newborn care close to home. The LPN provides safe, effective care for assigned patients with the assistance and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Collects patient/family data to facilitate the identification of clinical, educational, psychosocial, and cultural needs and communicate data and observations to health team members. 2. Contributes to patient plan of care based on clinical, educational, psychosocial, and cultural needs while recognizing when to resource other health team members. 3. Plans, prioritizes and organizes patient care tasks to ensure time and resource utilization. 4. Completes routine patient care tasks and medication administration in a sage, efficient and timely manner but recognizing and intervening in emergency situations. 5. Individualizes nursing interventions to meet identified needs and modifies interventions when the needs of the patient or family change. 6. Reassesses and modifies patient plan of care in collaboration with the registered nurse. 7. Performs other duties as assigned.
