Communicate patient progress towards the outcome attainment and assist providers and team during treatment/examination of patient and process orders. Makes appropriate and timely notification to providers on patient condition changes and carries out provider orders. Monitors, records, and communicates effectively patient condition as appropriate, utilizing computerized documentation systems to maintain therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and physicians. Assesses and coordinates patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. Instructs and educates patients and families providing age and culturally appropriate care. Functions as an effective team member and/or charge RN when needed, orients and mentors new staff members Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Maintains competencies in clinical areas and is responsible for professional growth and development. It is expected that the RN will attend Unit Meetings as directed by the Nurse Manager/Director and participate in continuing education programs and quality assurance programs to maintain competence and gain additional skills and knowledge. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the care of patient with a focus on cardiovascular diagnoses and procedures including but not limited to- pre and post cardiac caths, pacemakers, TEEs/Cardioversions, open heart surgery, ablations, TAVRs, groin management, strokes/TIAs, traumas, sepsis, COPD, CHF, AFib exacerbations, detox and drug abuse, and general med/surg telemetry overflow and IV maintenance. Performs all other duties as assigned.
