Description The Procedural Staff Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice. Description Full Time Nights, 7pm-7:30am, with rotating weekends Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (2A) 26-bed unit designed to provide treatment, care, and service to adult patients with acute medical, surgical and cardiac conditions specializing in complicated surgeries. Patient population will include but are not limited to esophagectomies, whipples, surgical-oncology cases, high-volume liposuction, multi-level spinal fusions, and vascular cases. Other opportunities for this unit will be any surgical patients that require a medication drip that is not appropriate for the medical-surgical inpatient unit. This unit will also be open to medical step-down and overflow patients to enhance hospital throughput. Direct care of the 2A patients will be provided by registered nurses with an ideal ratio of 1:3-4 patients for step down level of care. The unit provides comprehensive care to cardiac/vascular/surgical patients requiring intense monitoring and nursing care. Patient care in the Cardiac ICU includes early detection and prevention of complications, management of complex physiological problems, patient/family education and family psychosocial support systems. The unit’s focus is patients requiring cardiac and vascular surgery, TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement), Mitral Clips, ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy), ventricular assist device (VAD), IABP (intra-aortic balloon pump), Impella, and advanced ventilator management. Patients on this unit include: • Critically ill, unstable patients in the need of intensive treatment such as ventilator support and continuous vasoactive drug therapy. • Patients who may qualify for Priority 1 include those who suffer from reversible disease or acute illness and are admitted for aggressive medical/surgical treatment that cannot be provided elsewhere in the hospital. Two helicopter pads on campus for utilization We have 5 PODs in our department, depending on acuity, is where the patient will be assigned Behavioral Health Pod We have Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians and Unit Secretaries who work in close collaboration with the ED Providers to provide exceptional care All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit. RN's must have ACLS and PALS required. NIH highly preferred, must obtain within allotted timeframe.
