Experience
Bonnie earned her BSN from Boston College’s Connell School of Nursing, where she learned that the nursing profession has an incredibly wide scope of practice. She had the opportunity to work as a research fellow for a team looking at the effect of neurotransmitters on anorexia. She also served as a Student Nurse Intern at an academic medical facility in Burlington, Vermont.
After graduating from Boston College she moved to Burlington, Vermont, and worked as a floor nurse on a fast-paced surgical unit. She cared for patients with a broad range of health conditions including gastrointestinal diseases, diabetes, traumas, and burns. During this time she also worked in emergency and outdoor medicine as a Ski Patrol Base Nurse at a local ski hill. After three years on the surgical floor, she accepted a position as residential nurse at a summer camp in northern Vermont. As the sole nurse in a remote setting, she was responsible for the healthcare of 130-150 kids as well as about 40 staff members, and also oversaw a six-bed infirmary.
Bonnie’s love of the outdoors brought her to Colorado where she has followed a life-long passion for writing and where she wrote her first novel. She has worked in the world of self-publishing for over ten years, writing and publishing mystery novels under a penname, studying the craft, and learning more about the writing industry. Bonnie has worked as a copywriter, developmental editor, and freelance content creator. She reinstated her RN license in 2025, and is now happily combining her roots in nursing with her love for writing.
