This position is primarily dedicated to supporting and supervising the Critical Care Float Pool with secondary responsibility and supervision of the STAT RN Program and Vascular Access Team. Overview Our Medical Intensive Care Unit-3 (MICU-3) is a 16-bed unit. Our environment is upbeat, challenging, and embraces a strong team collaboration with nurses, Intensivists, and multiple ancillary departments – demonstrated daily by our multidisciplinary rounds. We care for critically ill adult patients who are being treated for Acute Respiratory Failure, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Sepsis, Gastrointestinal Bleeds, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), Hypertensive Crisis, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, and post-Cardiac Arrest requiring Targeted Temperature Management. Given the multidisciplinary approach our Intensivists provide 24/7, we commonly treat the most critically ill patients with complex illnesses across the West Alabama region.Our unit is unique because of the broad variety of patients admitted to the MICU, which allows for the development of critical thinking and diverse range of intensive care assessment skills.
