Advanced Practice Nurse - Palliative Care

Overview The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse for Palliative Care is to provide a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, contributes professional and clinical nursing expertise to nursing units and/or patient population to ensure the delivery of high quality nursing care. Must have, or obtain within one (1) year of date of hire, Advanced Certified Hospital and Palliative Nurse (ACHPN) Board Certification. AHA BLS (CPR) Certification required. Advanced Practice Nurse - Critical Care (Per Diem)

Responsibilities The University Hospital Medical Intensive Care Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) (Nurse Practitioner, NP) provides direct patient care services for critically ill complex patients in an intensive care setting in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Medical ICU attending physicians. The APN performs physical exams, collects, and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. Coordinates the care and discharge of patients and provides direct patient care services. The APN contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and provides leadership to the organization. Qualifications Currently licensed as RN in the State of New Jersey and certified as APN by the Board of Nursing. MSN required. Either one (1) year of experience as an APN in a critical care setting required, or three (3) years of experience as a RN in a critical care setting required. Experience with neuro patients preferred. BLS and ACLS required. CCRN preferred.

Advanced Practice Nurse, Employee Health Services - Per Diem

Overview About the Role The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who, through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician, is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. As a member of the Medical Staff the APN demonstrates standards of professional practice that include ethical decision making, job activities related to quality assessment/improvement, self – evaluation, leadership, and research. The APN is self- directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency. The APN in Employee Health Services, under the direction of the Director Employee Health, is responsible for assisting in coordinating the overall activities of the Employee Health Services of University Hospital. The APN is accountable for assuring quality medical care to UH employees by performing comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribing pharmacologic and non – pharmacologic treatments, as well as addressing the behavioral aspects of illness and disease. The Employee Health Services APN ensures that personnel working at University Hospital are in compliance with Federal, State, Local, TJC, New Jersey State Department of Health and all other regulatory agency requirements, standards, and regulations. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Assists in maintaining monthly statistics on tuberculosis exposure/screening, hepatitis screening, rubella exposure/screening, Aids exposure/screening and of employees seen in the Employee Health Clinic. Conducts surveillance and follow up of employee exposures to communicable disease. Is responsible for giving complete and comprehensive pre-employment physical examinations and documenting findings on the Medical Record accordingly. Administers employee physicals, provides injury related diagnosis, or other types of referrals according to OSHA regulations. Provides consultation regarding Workers’ Compensation, Infection Control, or other employee health related issues. Facilitates the whole health care rendering process for University Hospital employees from entry to return-to-duty. Maintains the privacy of the patient and the confidentiality of the Medical Record. Must be able to accurately assess those employees who present for treatment and initiate appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic measures. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Required: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey and Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the Board of Nursing. Master's Degree required. At least two (2) years’ of related nursing experience required. Experience in Worker’s Compensation, Employee Health Screening, BLS certification is required. Preferred: FMLA protocols preferred. ACLS certification preferred.
