Overview The Observation Unit is specialized and designed for efficient, ongoing medical treatment, assessment, and reassessment of patients before the appropriate decision can be made to either discharge or admit. You will care for a wide variety of patients with chest pain, A-fib, cellulitis, syncope, asthma, and congestive heart failure, trauma, musculoskeletal pain, stroke and TIA, among other diagnosis. This is a fast paced service. Patients have a short length of stay and the unit admits and discharges patients 24/7. Overview About the Role The Assistant Manager Environmental Services will assist the Director Environmental Services to provide leadership, direction, and management oversight for continuous improvement of EVS operations within University Hospital. Provides staff leadership and makes sound business decisions in support of the hospital’s mission and vision. Assists the Director Environmental Services with the day-to-day operations of the department and ensures a consistently high level of cleanliness. This is a second or third shift position. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Assists the Director Environmental Services to maintain the necessary and required resources for the environmental services department and provides recommendations for staffing levels, products, and equipment. Assists the Director Environmental Services in the development of departmental policies, processes, and implementation. In conjunction with University Hospital Human Resources, completes all human resources responsibilities for interviewing, hiring, managing, staff development, corrective actions and/or disciplining of employees according to the union contract. Prepares annual employee performance evaluation reports. With the Assistant Manager Environmental Services (Training), ensures staff training and development is compliant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other regulatory requirements. In conjunction with the Assistant Manager Environmental Services (Training), develops and implements an orientation/staff development program for new hires. Establishes work schedules, work assignments and assigns hours to ensure adequate service to all areas of responsibility. Oversees maintenance of employee time sheets and ensures submission to Payroll. Assists the Director Environmental Services with all quality and performance improvement initiatives regarding training, auditing, inspecting, rounding. Makes recommendations as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
