What You'll Be Doing

Main Function: The Nurse Practitioner is prepared to deliver primary health care, including but not limited to: recognition and management of common illnesses and injuries in the Emergency Department setting, some of which may be determined by protocol; provision of care across the health care continuum with emphasis on the early detection and treatment of disease, as well as prevention. Assesses plans and provides patient care under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Full-Time, Day shift, 4-10’s, 7:30 am – 6:00 pm

What We're Looking For

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN, and Master’s degree in advanced clinical practice nursing or graduate of post Master’s certificate program for nurse practitioner. (required); (preferred)

Work Experience: 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred. Two years full time as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner; five years preferred. Knowledge of healthcare procedures; Counseling/advising skills ; Decision-making and problem solving skills; Interpersonal/human relations skills ; Ability to maintain confidentiality ; Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories; Knowledge of health education theory and practice; Ability to maintain quality, safety, and / or infection control standards; Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures; Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise; Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements; Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Prior MediTech experience helpful.

Licensure/Certifications: Current NJ Licensure as a Registered Nurse; Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse in specialty areas as required with prescriptive authority; PICC certification preferred; BLS, ACLS, PALS optional; Must be credentialed through Medical Staff Office.

Physical Demands: Frequent/strenuous physical effort (e.g. heavy lifting, sustained physical effort, extensive carrying)

Working Conditions: Tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Exposure to communicable diseases, illness, hazardous chemicals, X-rays and fluoroscopy, sharp instruments and needles, and electricity when in clinical areas.
