The fifth largest city in the United States employs an estimated 230,000 healthcare workers. That means you’ll have your pick of great nursing jobs in Phoenix. The city also has much to offer in terms of culture and history — all at a relatively affordable cost of living. Learn more about what Phoenix has in store for nursing professionals.

To find the best jobs in the Phoenix area don’t stop at a search for Phoenix LPN jobs. Be sure to check out LPN jobs in neighboring cities such as:

Intro to Phoenix LPN Jobs

As a licensed practical nurse (LPN), you're a pivotal part of a healthcare team that tends to patients daily. Because the role is essential to caregiving, LPN jobs are found in many settings including skilled nursing facilities and residential care centers, hospitals, and home healthcare services.

LPN jobs are expected to grow by 6% over the next decade — an estimated additional 41,300 jobs — which would bring the total number of LPNs to nearly 700,000. If you're looking for an LPN job, now is a great time to explore the opportunities. LPNs are expected to be in high demand thanks to the aging of the baby boomer population, as well as the fact that outpatient centers are performing many of the procedures that were once exclusive to hospitals. Find your next LPN job on IntelyCare today

What to Know About Nursing Work in Phoenix

Almost 1.6 million people live in Phoenix, an area of about 500 square miles. There are ample opportunities for full-time, part-time, contract, and per diem work whether you’re seeking RN, CNA, or LPN jobs.

Cultural competence is highly valued among candidates who are applying to nursing jobs — Phoenix is a diverse city: 43% of residents are of Hispanic ethnicity; 7% are Black; and around 4% are Asian. If you can speak a language other than English — Spanish, especially — it will likely go a long way in boosting your hireability.

The median age of residents is around 33, with a roughly equal number of women and men. People ages 65 and over make up around 11% of the population. Nearly 45% of residents are married; 33% are married with children; and 24% are not married but have children.

If you need help looking after your kids or your pets while you’re busy with nursing jobs, Phoenix has you covered. The city offers early childhood development and family support programs for infants and toddlers; during the school year, the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department's Phoenix Afterschool Center has educational activities for kids ages 6 to 13.

Additionally, the city happens to boast the second highest percentage of households with dogs and third highest percentage of households with cats in the country. Living in an area with those kinds of statistics, you can easily find a pet sitter to walk your dog or feed your cat while you’re working a double.

Get Your LPN Resume and Cover Letter Ready

In order to stand out from the competition when applying to the best LPN jobs, your resume should align your skills to the specific requirements you see in a job ad. For example, if an employer lists “experience with wound care best practices” at the top of their list of qualifications, you’ll want to be sure you include that very phrase in your LPN resume. In your cover letter, be sure to talk about your experience cleaning and dressing wounds.

Not sure what else to put in your cover letter when you’re applying to jobs for LPN professionals? Check out our LPN cover letter template for inspiration.

Already Have an Interview in Phoenix? Here’s What You Need to Know

Employers use an interview as an opportunity to see what you’re like in person and gauge your verbal communication skills. At the same time, you have a chance to evaluate them — interviewing is very much a two-way street. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about the culture and priorities of the organization. The information can help you determine if the job is a good fit for you.

To help you prepare, take a look at some of the LPN interview questions employers might ask and practice your answers ahead of time.
