Responsibilities may include: Giving the shift report to on coming staff Provide clinical/supervisory oversight to the unit during a shift Delegate assignments to the team assigned to the shift Audit/assure completion of admission or discharge during shift with the RN’s co-sign Attend rounds (wound, physician, etc) If acting in the capacity of charge nurse, may develop patient care assignments (appointing other staff, RN, LPN, or PCA to implement an established care plan for a designated period of work time), create schedules, and contribute to performance evaluations and educate other staff on HSL policy and procedure.
