Responsibilities The Surgical Advanced Practice Provider position is primarily focused on clinical management, favorable impact on quality of care and is responsible to participate in all aspects of care of the Trauma and Surgery patient including physical exams and treatment of illness. Surgical Advanced Practice Providers will function in all areas of the pre/ peri and post-operative environment including pre-admission, test review, intra-operative first assisting, PACU care, SICU care, step-down unit and other areas designated. Surgical Advanced Practice Providers will use a variety of skills to educate, consult and manage the Trauma or Surgery patient population and assist the patient/family, the patient care team and physicians. They will work collaboratively with the health care team including Trauma and Surgery physicians, anesthesiologists, other physicians involved in the trauma or surgery patient care, nurses, case management, physical and occupational therapy and with departments affecting the care of the Trauma or Surgery patient. Surgical Advanced Practice Providers will act as a clinical educator working with staff on Trauma or Surgery competencies, new procedures and advanced practice skills. They will work with the Trauma Surgeons to implement necessary medical aspects of care including discharges and pain management.
