The PSU Nurse has the responsibility to provide all nursing care services for the post-surgical patients in a manner suitable to accepted standards of care. He/She ensures the highest quality and safe delivery of patient care, maintains compliance with professional nursing, JCAHO, and all Federal and State standards of care. The RN cares for all ages from 2 years to geriatric. This position is assigned to respond to patients presenting to the facility with a healthcare need and providing the Medical Screening Exam as delegated by the Medical Executive Committee. Participates in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates. Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse and respiration rates. Key Responsibilities Interview patients to gather medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height. Record medical history, vital statistics, and test results in medical records. Collect and prepare blood, tissue, or other specimens for testing. Assist physicians during patient examinations, providing instruments and materials as needed. Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, ensuring cleanliness and supply restocking. Clean and sterilize instruments, and manage contaminated supplies. Conduct phone consultations regarding test results and health concerns. Process specimens, ensuring proper labeling and packaging for lab pickup. Perform phlebotomy and other diagnostic tests. Administer medications as ordered, including oral, intramuscular, SubQ, and topical. Ensure proper documentation of patient care activities. Stock exam rooms with supplies, checking for expired items and managing waste. Participate in OSHA compliance programs and performance improvement initiatives. Promote a respectful and courteous environment for all patients and staff. Work collaboratively within a primary care medical home model. Attend safety training programs and adhere to safety protocols. Maintain work area and equipment per Legacy and governmental standards. Report safety concerns promptly and follow exposure control plans. Demonstrate proper use of protective equipment and maintain a safe environment. Attend annual education programs and perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required BLS/CPR Certification required Up to one year experience Excellent communication skills and customer service skills. Basic front desk, clerical or healthcare support specialist skills/experience Ability to work with clinical staff, works well under pressure, and multitask within a multidisciplinary team Commitment to the concepts of preventive health care and team approach to health care delivery Experience working with computers Experience with Microsoft Office applications. Summary The Registered Nurse I (RN I) plays a key role within the Baylor Medicine Comprehensive Healthcare Clinic's concierge and executive programs. This role provides direct patient care, supports clinical operations, and coordinates services for high-touch patients including corporate clients and Baylor leadership. The RN I collaborates closely with physicians, wellness teams, and leadership to ensure a seamless, high-quality care experience in a concierge setting. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to adapt in a high-touch care model, and the initiative to contribute to team-wide care planning and strategy. Experience in a concierge, executive health, or ambulatory care setting is preferred. Strong EMR proficiency, MyChart management, and coordination skills are desirable. The RN I may serve as a clinical liaison and is expected to uphold BCM's standards for professionalism, patient care, and operational excellence. This position is located at our McNair Campus. Job Duties Performs routine clinical procedures such as vital signs, specimen collection, EKGs, cognitive screening, and point-of-care testing. Supports in-office procedures, sets up equipment, and administers medications as directed. Coordinates patient referrals, appointment scheduling, and follow-ups. Manages incoming MyChart messages and provides telephone triage. Documents patient interactions in the EMR and assists with maintaining accurate clinical records. Provides patient education and acts as liaison between patients and physicians. Participates in quality and safety initiatives as a clinic lead. Assists practice manager in daily operational planning. Supports team communication and problem-solving across multidisciplinary teams. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. No experience required. Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
