Description This position is not eligible for benefits due to the casual/as needed scheduling status. This position works in a multidisciplinary environment which will require exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, clinical and administrative units. The Oncology Nurse Clinician PNE coordinates multidisciplinary care using the nursing process. Responsibilities: Assesses and reassesses the patient and family for on-going care needs with knowledge of high-risk criteria and initiates referrals to the appropriate resources in a timely manner. For all new patients collects and analyzes data, identifies and coordinates appropriate multidisciplinary care and appointments. Triages this information and schedules patients appropriately. Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff and coordinates new patients for the multidisciplinary clinics. Assists in creating a plan of care that indicates this collaboration and communication. Serves as a resource to non-clinical staff regarding prospective patients calling the program for information. Is able to state rationale for clinical decisions based on critical thinking. Performs all aspects of patient care in a manner which optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Identifies learning needs, abilities, preferences and readiness; assesses support systems, coping mechanisms and barriers to learning, making referrals as appropriate. Educates patient, family and caregivers regarding diagnosis, process, therapies, and testing. Assists with transitions of care and providers. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with other team members. Has respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines. Delegates appropriately to other care providers to facilitate meeting patient needs in a timely manner. Promotes a positive work environment. Obtains consent, prepares equipment, assists with procedure and prepares biopsy/aspirate to be sent to lab. Qualifications Possession of State Registered Nurse license. Chemotherapy biotherapy certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire. CPR certification Two years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting preferred. Previous experience in oncology preferred The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $32.65-49.00, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Review the departments Policy & Procedure Manual, Job Descriptions, cleaning schedules, etc., at least annually for revisions and make recommendations to the Director of Nursing. Collaborates with CNAs to ensure compliance with established departmental policies and procedures, including appropriate dress code. Assist in developing a written plan of care for each customer that identifies the problems/needs of the customer. Attends and actively participates in customer care plan conference when indicated Resolves then processes a concern resolution form on all concerns, complaints made by the customer or their family to the Administrator. Under supervision of a clinical leader, meets with the CNA Ladies and Gentlemen of the nursing department, on a regularly scheduled basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement of services. Recruit and conducts preliminary interviews and make recommendations for hiring to the clinical leadership and Administrator. Final interviews and approval are completed by the clinical leadership or Administrator. Provides assistance with orientation, coaching and mentoring to ensure the success of CNAs in the performance of their duties. Makes recommendations for counseling to the clinical leadership. Provides feedback to clinical leadership regarding CNA daily and annual performance evaluation feedback. Make daily rounds to ensure that nursing personnel are performing required duties, and to ensure appropriate procedures are being followed. Make physical rounds of all customers daily. Make rounds with physicians as necessary. Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department. Plan, conduct and participate in In-service Education Programs. Assist in implementing and maintaining an effective orientation program that orients the new CNA Ladies and Gentlemen of Alden to the facility, his/her department, and its policies. Attend and participate in continuing education programs. Recommend to the Director of Nursing the equipment and supply needs of the department. Place orders for equipment and supplies as necessary following established budgetary guidelines and assists with the distribution of supplies to ensure that the CNAs have all necessary equipment and supplies. Assist in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other customer services to ensure the continuity of the customers total care regimen. Monitor and perform administrative duties such as completing forms, reports, studies, charting, etc., as necessary. Monitor absenteeism to ensure that an adequate number of nursing care personnel are on duty at all times. Report problem areas to the Director. Assist and maintain general organization of nursing units. Provide the Director of Nursing with information relative to the nursing needs of the customers and the nursing service department’s ability to meet these needs. Assist with arranging appointments and transportation as needed. Assist support services in developing, implementing, and conducting in-service training programs that relate to the nursing services department. Ensure that all personnel involved in providing care to the customer is aware of the care plan and that care plans are used in administering daily care to the customer. Attend Department head meetings, Infection Control meetings, Quality Improvement meetings, etc., as directed.
