Job Responsibilities

  • Working in contract role in a local acute facility for a designated time period (usually 10-15 weeks)
  • Providing quality patient care within your scope of practice for patients requiring a wide range of clinical needs
  • Assisting patients with pre-op and post-op procedures in coordination with the broader care team
  • Starting IV lines, inserting and maintaining catheters, dressing and managing wounds, and assisting with respiratory management
  • Taking and monitoring patient vital signs and conducting head-to-toe assessments
  • Ensuring medication administration and titration as prescribed
  • Identifying infection risks and implementing infection control best practices
  • Documenting patient conditions and nursing interventions and providing regular and accurate reporting to the wider clinical team
  • Conducting patient education regarding medical procedures, discharge planning, and continuity of care
  • Overseeing, and coordinating with, nursing assistants and other support staff
  • Adhering to facility policies and procedures and all relevant nursing standards of care
  • Being accountable to follow and adhere to patient care plans

Qualifications and Skills

  • Current Illinois state Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of 8 months experience working as a Med Surg RN
  • Graduation from a nursing program at an approved institution (BSN preferred)
  • Successful completion of BLS and ACLS courses from an approved organization
  • Immunizations as determined by facility requirements
  • Completion of a standard background check
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
