Overview Our compassionate staff in our Harvard Care Center focuses on providing short term-rehabilitation services to get you back to the life you love. After a hospitalization or illness, we treat patients who may need extra assistance during their recovery period. From there, we help to ease the transition from the hospital to the comfort of their own home or other living arrangement. Health problems like stroke, congestive heart failure, lung disease, joint replacements and hip fractures can affect the entire body. Recovering from these problems requires a whole-person approach from Mercyhealth's qualified staff. They specialize in IV-therapy, wound care, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Responsibilities Utilizes the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and state laws/practice act as required by care setting. Ensures all documentation is accurate and comprehensive in accordance with the established standards of care for documentation at the system and entity levels. Develops initiates and executes a patient plan of care according to the patient's individualized needs, as prescribed by the physician and/or hospital policy. Utilizes resources available to teach and support patient and family education. Provides education to the appropriate level of understanding. Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, which may include shared governance. We offer a variety of primary care and specialty clinics typically working Monday – Friday to support the local community. Provides support with the daily activities of a medical office by performing the following duties and other duties as assigned. May be required to work overtime during peak periods. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Rooms patients, collects assessment data and prepares patient according to specific need. Assists in examination, treatment and other clinic procedures. Assists with laboratory procedures, screening tests and QI projects. Answers telephone and either responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, or initiates a triage slip for response by medical personnel. Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler. Conducts reminder calls to all patients. Greet and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors. Registers patients by verifying that patient's record is up to date and accurate. Makes appropriate changes in computer system and on patient's chart. Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices. Collects payment from patients and issues receipt. Prepares and maintains patient charts. Maintains and orders supplies. Education and Experience Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or graduate of a medical assistant program in a postsecondary school or college that has institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education, Experience in clinic setting preferred. Certification and Licensure Required current CMA certification through the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) or RMA certification through the AMT (American Medical Technologists) or CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) through NHA (National Healthcareer Association) that have also completed the education requirements.
