Cardiovascular disorders cared for on 3 South include: MI-following the acute stay in the HVICU, Heart Failure; Pulmonary Edema; Arrhythmias; Post-interventional Radiology patients; Post-procedure Angioplasty; Valvular Heart Disease. The staff cares for Thoracic Surgery patients undergoing various thoracic surgical procedures such as lobectomy, esophagectomy, sleeve resection/chest wall resection, VATS, lung volume reduction surgery and endobronchial valves. In addition, the staff cares for Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) and Heart Failure (HF) patients, utilizing hemodynamic monitoring tools to diagnose and treat the most severe forms of both diseases including patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices.
