The IU West Hospital Cath Interventional Radiology/Pre-post department provides patients with access to lifesaving treatments, cutting-edge technology, and research-based medicine. The team cares for adult patients using teamwork, strong critical thinking, and quick interventions. The RN provides hands on care for patients undergoing diagnostic heart caths, interventional cardiac caths, and electro physiology procedures as well as patients undergoing Interventional Radiology procedures. This position is referral eligible! Relocation Incentive available! This position is for Part Time Days . Schedule: 2 (12) hour shifts from 8am to 8pm and 1 (10) hour shift 7am to 5:30pm. No nights / weekends / holidays. No call requirement Nursing skills gained on this unit: How to care for patients undergoing various procedures including: Heart catheterization, cardiac ablations, STEMI, IR procedures, pacemaker and AICD implantation and others Use and knowledge of cutting-edge technology Critical thinking skills Time management Patient education Unit Successes/Designations: One of the busiest STEMI programs in the IU Health System The only 24/7 STEMI program in Hendricks County Unit culture: Team oriented, patient focused department who work together to care for very sick patients and their families Very involved and dedicated leadership team Shared decision making Close collaboration between physicians, RNs and Radiology technicians Qualifications 1 year of critical care experience is preferred. Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. General Statement of Duties : The Registered Nurse PAT coordinates and evaluates preoperative screening for assigned patients in a timely fashion. The Registered Nurse established a friendly, efficient, preoperative process for patients having surgery at OrthoIndy Hospital facilities. Essential Duties : Monitors and assesses patient condition and reports any unusual symptoms, occurrences or discrepancies to appropriate Physicians and manager. Provides care safely, with adequate quality, quantity, and timeliness and according to applicable standards. Sets-up, operates and/or monitors the use of various systems, equipment and instrumentation required for the care of patients. Collaborates with Physicians to provide results, review complex or unclear medical information and documents all interactions in EMR. Maintains complete communication with Physician and peers regarding requests and scheduled appointments. Initiates indicated patient care plans. Ensures plan of care reflects the patient needs. Provides instruction, information, and counseling to patients and their families as needed. Obtains complete medical history and retrieves records as indicated. Responsible for daily review of requests, faxes, and completed clearances. Responds to telephone inquiries promptly, screens calls, and provides information to patients and staff as needed. Requirements: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred from a nationally accredited nursing program Registered Nurse license in the state of Indiana required BLS certification required 2-4 years of related experience required, 4-6 years preferred OrthoIndy is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
