Registered Nurse (RN) - PPOP PACU

Facility : OrthoIndy Hospital Main, Indianapolis, IN Department : OIH PACU Shift Details : Part-time, 24 hours per week, two 12 hour weekday shifts from 6:30 am - 7:00 pm with rotating days off and minimal call. OrthoIndy Hospital Northwest, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, provides outpatient care and inpatient care, with 10 operating rooms, 2 procedure rooms and a 42-bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing more invasive procedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip and knee joint replacement. Other services include an urgent care, clinics, pre-op clinic, imaging and physical therapy. General Statement of Duties: The Registered Nurse PPOP PACU provides nursing care and service during the preoperative and postoperative periods, integrating and making nursing judgments pertaining to the patient’s condition on a routine and emergency basis. The position oversees the supervision of all non-licensed personnel, while also receiving direction from Physicians. Essential Duties: Monitors and assesses patient condition and reports any unusual symptoms, occurrences or discrepancies to manager and appropriate Physicians. Completes treatments and procedures as ordered and assigned by the Physician, consistent with patient complexity and commensurate with the skill, knowledge, and training of the individual. Provides care safely, with adequate quality, quantity, and timeliness and according to applicable standards. Admits patients to all areas within pre and post-operative and post-anesthesia services, and receives and reviews pre post-operative report. Sets-up, operates and monitors the use of various systems, equipment and instrumentation required for the care of patients. Reviews and initiates Physician’s orders, administers medication, parenteral fluids and treatment as needed. Provides instruction, information, and counseling to patients and their families as needed. Distributes educational material as appropriate. Maintains medication and nursing documentation within the patient record. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and development levels of patients served. Requirements: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred from a nationally accredited nursing program 2-4 years Registered Nurse experience in PACU, ICU and/or ER required . 4-6 years of experience preferred Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana required BLS, ACLS certification required; PALS preferred OrthoIndy is an Equal Opportunity Employer

Registered Nurse (RN) Surgery

General Statement of Duties: The Registered Nurse Surgery provides nursing care and services in the operating room; assisting the physician and scrub staff during surgical procedures, including circulating duties, and directing non-professional personnel. Surgery Registered Nurse duties include, but are not limited to positioning the patient, assisting anesthesia during induction, prepping the patient, opening sterile packages, documentation, operating equipment and obtaining necessary supplies. Essential Duties: Prepares setup, materials, medications, and equipment for cases as needed and assists surgeons in all types of procedures as required. Preps the surgical site using aseptic technique. Maintains operating room and equipment in a functional manner. Prepares, operates and monitors the use of various systems, equipment, and instrumentation required for the care of patients. Monitors overall patient care and reports any unusual occurrence, circumstances, or discrepancies to the supervisor. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the health care team, to ensure quality of care. Performs sponge, needle, and sharp counts according to policy and procedure. Correctly collects and accurately labels specimens. Maintains inventory control of supplies and medications, including appropriate records and documentation. Reviews and verifies patient information, identification, and chart forms. Supervises and teaches members of the surgical team. Confines and contains sources of contaminations. Reviews and revises surgeon’s preference cards and communicates changes to appropriate personnel. Performs and records the order of Physician’s including administration of medications. Assists with patient care in the pre and post-operative areas as needed. Requirements: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred from a nationally accredited nursing program 1-2 years of registered nurse surgery experience required; 2-4 years preferred Currently licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Indiana required CPR, ACLS certifications required OrthoIndy is an Equal Opportunity Employer

Provides instruction, information, and counseling to patients and their families as needed. Obtains complete medical history and retrieves records as indicated. Responsible for daily review of requests, faxes, and completed clearances. Responds to telephone inquiries promptly, screens calls, and provides information to patients and staff as needed. Distributes educational material as appropriate. Completes assigned tasks that facilitate discharge planning. Participates in annual and ongoing training, education and development activities to improve knowledge and skills. Requires knowledge of equipment and supplies.
