Job Role Summary

This full-time position is responsible for coordinating and leading informatics activities across MCPHD programs and external, collaborating organizations, including:

Prioritizing projects and tasks to best address informatics needs and fulfill the agency’s mission.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with partner agencies to initiate and coordinate public health activities.
Developing and maintaining expertise in relevant public health and informatics issues.
Identifying needs for data and communicating with external agencies to secure data.
Apply for, oversee, and manage grants and research studies.
Collaborating with HHC staff and other organizations to assure the success of programs and projects.
Represent MCPHD in organization-wide initiatives.

Essential Duties

80% Project Management & Coordination: (Other duties may be assigned)

Work with leadership in developing and implementing strategic plans for the organization
Meet with program staff to understand their information needs, and develop solutions to address those needs
Prepare and deliver reports and presentations on health issues and statistics regarding informatics for professional and lay audiences
Develop training and training opportunities for personnel
Revise procedures as necessary for maximum efficiency, improve operations
Apply for, oversee, and manage grants and research studies
Cultivate relationships with academic researchers to stimulate projects to assess and improve health in Marion County.
Attend and participate in national meetings and conferences as needed.
Participates in a minimum of two H.O.P.E. events totaling a minimum of eight (8) hours annually.
Other duties as assigned.

Leadership and External Collaboration:

Manage special projects and collaborations with partnering agencies
Lead special projects within MCPHD
Serve as a liaison between MCPHD/HHC with other local health departments, Indiana State Department of Health, and other partnering agencies
Represent the MCPHD on internal and external committees and working groups.

Other Duties and Responsibilities: 20%

Other informatics projects:
Design and oversee program evaluations
Develop summaries and reports
Present results to staff, partner agencies, and the public
Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of data systems as appropriate and needed

Qualifications

Masters or Doctoral Degree in Informatics, Public Health, or related discipline.
Five Three or more years post-graduate experience in informatics or public health preferred
Prior experience leading health equity public health informatics work or initiatives preferred.
Ability to lead a team to complete cross-agency projects.

Working Enviornment

This position requires the ability to engage in and/or out of state travel as needed, requiring a valid driver’s license
Candidate must be currently able to legally work in the United States
Position requires steady use of hands or fingers: 50%
