About the Role The Perioperative Nurse Manager supervises the daily clinical operations of the center and manages the nursing staff, operating room, post anesthesia care unit (PACU), and preoperative area and enforces and monitors policies established. The Perioperative Nurse Manager ensures that policies are maintained and followed by all surgery center staff in accordance with established Federal & State regulations, and the company’s policies and procedures. POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops, interprets, and enforces standards in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, AAAHC, DNV and/or Joint Commission. Integrates nursing policies with organizational policies. Perioperative Nurse Manager assumes responsibility for managing the human and material resources to provide quality patient care in an environment conducive to staff growth and satisfaction. The Perioperative Nurse Manager is accountable for ensuring staff provides age-specific nursing care for the patient population described in respective scope of services. As the Perioperative Nurse Manager, you will work with our customized medical information system that eliminates paper charts and replaces them with a single, electronic medical record. Responsible for the coordination of patient flow throughout the perioperative services areas from admission to discharge. Consults in a variety of patient care situations requiring advanced competency and knowledge. Serves as a clinical resource for problem solving and Assists staff with patient related issues. Serves as a role model to develop staff competence in the delivery of nursing care. Responsible for cost effective operations and initiatives, including product evaluation, prevention of waste & damage, materials management, patient flow, control of overtime, & appropriate staff mix. Able to provide safe, quality care directly to a surgical patient as needed. Manages employees, schedules, time and attendance and performance management. Set clear goals and expectations; provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews. Develop talent through mentoring, training, and career development initiatives. Promote a collaborative and engaging work environment that aligns with company values. Manage conflict and make timely decisions to maintain team focus and performance. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and development conversations. Approve timecards, schedules, time-off requests, and other administrative HR functions. Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and safety regulations. All other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor of Science (BSN) preferred. Current and valid registered nurse license required. CPR certification required. At least 5 years’ total clinical experience; with two years in nursing administration/OR management; computer skills. The Supervisor is a registered nurse who works in an administrative role in an ambulatory care setting and performs both administrative duties and clinical services as needed or requested. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Coordinates all administrative (back office) clinical functions of the medical practice(s); assures a competent back office workforce, and assesses clinical staff for competency; oversees and maintains the vital staff certifications and licensing requirements. Assists in the development, review, and revision of standard operating policies and procedures in collaboration with senior management. Oversees, and as necessary, performs administrative functions as needed, which can include answering and triaging telephone calls for patient care matters, functioning as a liaison between physicians, the patients and the staff including the front office. Coordinates, or serves as a liaison, for administrative support activities including facilities management, pharmacy, utilization management, quality management, risk management, human resources, payroll, clinical services, and systems support. Controls wage and non-wage expenses, including pharmacy and medical supplies, in accordance with budgetary guidelines. Works in a collaborative role with the management team, staff, and physicians in the clinical practices, as well as related departments throughout the organization. Function as a key point person in research, setup, and implementation of new procedures, projects, initiatives, workflows, equipment. Prepare charts as needed, including filing into appropriate sections of the medical records, and assure that all pertinent items are available to the provider before patient care commences. Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs; assist providers in examination/procedure rooms as needed. May fulfill back-office staff functions as needed including managing patient flow, charting, room prep, vitals, updating and maintaining medical records; and handling designated clinical care telephone interactions. As directed by the provider may perform designated diagnostic tests; draw, prepare designated lab work and/or specimens; administer immunization, injections, oral, or IV medications; convey lab results to patients; assist in follow-up scheduling needs; answer patient calls in a timely fashion and communication significant clinical findings to the provider.
