PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES CLINIC OPERATIONS: Manages the operations of the clinic, including costs, processes, staffing, and quality standards. Provides leadership, coaching, and development plans for all direct reports. Partners with internal Human Resources, Quality, and Technical Services departments. Collaborates with or functions as the Home Therapies Program Manager to oversee the facility’s Home Therapies Program. Maintains integrity of medical and operations records and complies with all data collections and auditing activities. Accountable for completion of the Annual Standing Order Review and Internal Classification of Disease (ICD) coding. Manages clinic financials including efficient utilization of supplies or equipment and regular profits and loss review. Responsible for all required network reporting and on-site state or federal surveys. PATIENT CARE: Coordinates all aspects of patient care with the appropriate staff members, from admission through discharge of the patient. Ensure education of the patient regarding quality measures, transplant options, modality awareness, and access care. Acts as a resource for the patient and family to address concerns and questions. Accountable for timely completion of patient care assessments and care plans. Manages timely patient schedules to ensure facility efficiency and develops action plans for missed treatments. Plans, coordinates, and validates patient eligibility for treatment. Reports changes in patient status regarding any clinical, insurance, or travel and transportation issues. STAFF: Participates in the selection and hiring of new team members and ensures completion of new hiring orientation and mandatory trainings. Responsible for all patient care employees completing appropriate training courses and that licensures/certifications are current. Provides support for all clinical staff members at regular intervals and encourages professional growth. Maintains current knowledge regarding company benefits, policies, procedures, and processes. Completes employee evaluations and establishes annual goals. Documents any disciplinary actions and confers with the clinic Director of Operations and Human Resources when needed. Manages staff scheduling and payroll. PHYSICIANS: Facilitates the application process for physician privileges and compliance with Fresenius Medical Care Medical Staff By-Laws. Responsible for strong physician relationships and ensures regular and effective communication. Participates in Governing Body, an interdisciplinary team for each region including MSWs, Dietitians, MDs, DOs etc. that governs policies. EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (RN). Current appropriate state licensure. EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Required: 6+ years business operations experience in a healthcare facility. 12 months experience in clinical nursing. 6 months chronic or acute dialysis nursing experience. Successfully pass the Ishihara Color Blind Test. Preferred but not required: 3+ years supervisory or project/program management experience. Med/surg or ICU/CCU experience. Responsible for promoting and maintaining quality patient care through effective management of healthcare products, identification of standardization opportunities while upholding the facilities policies, practices and standards of care ultimately resulting in improved clinical and financial outcomes. Provides support to SCM Specialists during VAT trials and product conversions. Provides support to SCM Buyers for backorder and situations requiring time sensitive product substitution. Carries out all directives issued by Manager of Value Analysis on a consistent basis to properly manage the needs of NGHS and affiliates. Position requires demonstrated analytical experience and strong personal computer, project management, leadership, problem solving and team building skills. Should possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Engages with operators within the clinical departments for visual and physical understanding/confirmation of processes and product use to support standardization and Value Analysis initiatives. Assist in setting goals and priorities for the teams and tracking progress. Bring cost-saving opportunities to the teams based on available data and assist in evaluating potential savings opportunities suggested within the teams. Work with teams and departments to evaluate new product requests. Provide periodic assessments of the overall impact of supply cost reduction efforts, including implemented savings and cost per case trends. Coordinate efforts with the Supply Chain team to optimize operational and capital supply and equipment contractual agreements. Collaborate with Risk Management and Infection Prevention to assure that all safety, regulatory and epidemiological issues are addressed prior to selection. Work in conjunction with the appropriate committees to review and revise policies and procedures relative to product changes. Maintain proactive communication and interact with direct patient care staff and physicians to ensure appropriate feedback is received before product decisions are made. Utilization Review of necessity, quality, effectiveness and efficiency of medical products and procedures where products are used. Facilitates discussion and review of products during Value Analysis Team meetings. Product Back Order Substitution and Discontinuation. Work with Supply Chain staff to find a functionally equivalent product. Work with Clinical staff to educate and notify of backorder/product changes. Monitor back-order situation and ensure the reversal of product occurs when back order has ceased. Clinical Product Issues. Liaison for clinical and physician concerns, needs or complaints that involve disposable product. Investigate said complaints/concerns/needs and help find a solution; including staff education/in-servicing, conversion to alternative products, and circle back to ensure products. Provide more staff education/in-service. Discontinuation of product usage, conversion to an alternative product. Ensure product improves the working environment and empowers clinical and physician staff to do their job more effectively and more efficiently. Vendor Compliance. Maintains proactive communication with vendors. Engage and Educate staff re: vendor compliance. Monitor compliance with system policies via use of Vendor Compliance software. Standardization / Integration. Evaluate the needs for standardization within the entire Healthcare System. Work with Supply Chain team to achieve standardization. Ensure all facilities are considered during the Value Analysis process. Assist with coordination of standardization projects with Clinical and Supply Chain staff to ensure smooth transitions and minimize waste/loss associated with product changes. Promote fiscal responsibility. General Duties. Clinical consultant to all Supply Chain staff when clinical knowledge of the product is required to complete their task. Work with Logistics and departmental staff to facilitate most effective par levels in based on clinical knowledge and process review. Demonstrates a willingness to accept additional responsibility as requested to meet the needs of the organization. Engages with operators within the clinical departments for visual and physical understanding/confirmation of processes and product use to support standardization and Value Analysis initiatives.
