Staff Nurse (Maternal Child)

Overview About the Role The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse (Maternal Child) position is to administer total patient care based on individualized needs of assigned patients/families in accordance with professional nursing standards and evidence-based nursing. The Staff Nurse will utilize knowledge and demonstrate competency in Obstetrics, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecology, Infertility, Gynecologic Oncology, Urogynecology, Urodynamics, Reproductive Choice, Pediatrics Lactation Counseling, and other related programs. The Staff Nurse participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement endeavors, University Hospital continuing education and certifications. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Obtains health histories and provides assessments or screenings as indicated on assigned patients as outlined in the nursing standards. Provides direct patient care to ensure proper implementation of medical/nursing plan of care. Administers, monitors, and documents medications and immunizations in accordance with established UH or ACC policies and procedures. Provides effective communication of all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences in accordance with established UH policies and procedures. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current license to practice in the State of New Jersey/BSN preferred. Current IV/Venous Access Device Certification required. Be knowledgeable in Managed Care and Healthcare Industry trends. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. BLS (CPR) is required. Candidates lacking current BLS (CPR) Certification must obtain certification prior to start date of employment. Responsibilities Purpose of Your Position To ensure in collaboration with the Nurse Manager for each unit that safe, appropriate and goal-directed care is provided in a consistent manner, to provide support and direction to nursing staff on the evening and night tours of duty and to ensure the implementation of the Nursing Department policies and procedures on the evening and night tours of duty. Perform clinical evaluations of residents for acute illness or change in status.
