We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our GI physicians in managing hospitalized patients with acute gastrointestinal illnesses. This position is exclusively hospital-based and focused on rounding, with no after-hours or on-call responsibilities. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Collaborate closely with the attending Gastroenterologist to assess, diagnose, and manage patients with acute GI conditions. Perform initial GI workups and follow-up assessments as directed. Participate in daily hospital rounds, reviewing test results, documentation, and care plans. Rounding at both Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital. Hospitals are approx. 20 minutes apart. Partner with residents and, beginning Fall 2026, GI Fellows as part of an academic and team-based environment. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
