Gastroenterology – Interventional Advanced Practice Provider Rush University Medical Center Chicago, IL Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Interventional Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Provider. Under the supervision and in collaboration with board-certified gastroenterologists, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers high-quality care to patients with digestive health concerns. This role is ideal for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) or Physician Assistants (PAs) with a passion for gastroenterology and chronic disease management. Duties & Responsibilities Monday – Friday: 8:30am-5:00 PM; 36 hours of outpatient patient-facing care per week. No call required. Outpatient Clinic Setting Clinical Care & Assessment Conduct comprehensive health histories and physical exams focused on GI-related conditions. Order and interpret diagnostic tests including labs, imaging, and GI-specific screenings. Develop and implement treatment plans for conditions such as GERD, IBD, IBS, liver disease, and colorectal cancer screening. Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state laws and clinical guidelines. Patient Education & Advocacy Educate patients and families on GI conditions, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care. Promote shared decision-making and informed consent. Refer patients to community resources and support groups as needed. Care Coordination & Continuity Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care coordinators to ensure seamless patient care. Provide follow-up care and monitor chronic conditions. Triage patient calls and messages, ensuring timely responses and interventions. Preferred Qualifications Applicants with 2+ years of previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in Gastroenterology or Surgery are preferred.
