Ensure nursing staff follow their respective job descriptions. Perform administrative duties such as completing transfers, monthlies, nurse’s notes, reports, etc. as necessary. Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required. Complete accident/incident reports, as necessary. Participate in developing the agenda for care plan committee meetings. Ensure that rooms are ready for new admissions. Greet newly admitted residents upon admission. Escort to room, as necessary. Do nursing assessments. Make rounds with a physician. Monitors and transcribes physicians' orders, consults and appointments, as necessary. Provide direct nursing care, as necessary. Notify the neighbor’s attending physician and next of kin when there is a change in the resident’s condition. Make independent decisions concerning nursing care. Give/receive the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. Administer professional services such as, but not limited to catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, etc… Participate in the orientation of new neighbors/family members to the facility. Review the neighbor’s chart for specific treatments, medication orders, diets, etc., as necessary. Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered. Take and record blood pressure, etc. as necessary. Monitor seriously ill neighbors, as necessary. Administer medications and treatments and document same as necessary. Responsible for knowledge of all safety and fire regulations. Attend Inservice programs, both in and out of facility, to increase professional competence. Responsible for knowledge of all personnel policies. Write, evaluate, and update care plans. All other duties as may be assigned.
