Resident Care Aide/Home Health Aide (HHA) Position Overview: RCA/HHA team members will assist with ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing personal care support. This position is responsible for meeting the physical and emotional needs of residents under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse ensuring that the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times. Responsibilities Resident Care Aide - Home Health Aide (HHA): Ability to assist residents with Daily Living Activities as needed that may include meal assistance, grooming, medication management, showering, dressing/undressing, toileting, skin care. Ability to use hands, arms and fingers in repeated motions that include ability to feel or operate objects, tools, or controls including grasping and turning motions. Ability to move and walk quickly and steadily in an emergency situation. Ability to assist with wheelchair transport of resident(s). Ability to apply/utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Responsible for responding immediately to residents’ requests. Assists residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s), according to their plan of care, individual needs and care preferences. Notifies Supervisor of changes in residents conditions or needs Maintains facility standards for resident care Assists with service in the dining room for all meals as needed. Maintain facility standards for service and customer focus techniques. Informs nurse responsible for the care of resident and document duties performed as necessary before leaving for break or end of shift. Observes and practices confidentiality of resident information and privacy when performing job duties. Performs assigned duties according to the service excellence standards and goals established for this position and for all staff members of this facility. Attends facility meetings, staff meetings and required or preferred in-services. Generates and develops ideas which improve the quality of care for residents or increase position productivity and satisfaction. Performs all position duties according to safety rules and practices required for this position and as required to ensure the general safety of staff, residents and visitors. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them. Exhibits the highest level of customer service towards residents, staff and visitors. Consistently demonstrates the ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary. From Up to Qualifications Resident Care Aide - Home Health Aide (HHA) Educational Requirements and Qualifications: Eighteen (18) years of age required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Certification by an approved basic training program in home health aide services (HHA) or personal care aide services (PCA) approved by the Department of Health and possess written evidence of such certification. Must maintain current annual skills testing approval. Ability to assist residents with all aspects of Daily Living Activities including bathing, toileting, and transferring. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds; Occasional 2 person lift up to 120 pounds This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. Position Details: Per Diem - Robert Packer Hospital - Towanda Campus – Acute Care unit Department Details: Acute Care Towanda is a 10-bed acute care unit that primarily focuses on an interdisciplinary care approach for medical patients with the Medical Hospitalist Service. All bedside acute care nurses at Guthrie benefit from the added support of our Virtual RNs located in our Pulse Center. They provide assistance with a variety of tasks, enabling bedside nurses to spend more time on direct patient care. Position Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice. Essential functions and specific skills for the job are found in the unit specific onboarding checklist and in standards that are applicable to the specialty.
