Position Summary: Provides direct assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures.
Education, License & Cert: Currently licensed as a registered nurse By the Pennsylvania board of nursing required. Graduate of an accredited first assistant program required. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. • BLS Basic Life Support or EKG course • CNOR Certified Perioperative Nurse • BSN Bachelor of Nursing
Experience: One year of operating room experience required.
Essential Functions: 1. Positions patient to give best exposure for surgical procedure, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety. 2. Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning and irrigation. 3. Utilizes appropriate technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis. 4. Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings and securing of drainage systems. 5. Performs all other duties and projects as assigned.
Other Duties: 1. Demonstrates awareness of need for self‐growth by assessing strengths and weaknesses, maintains respect and consideration for all patients as individuals. Represents the hospital in a professional courteous manner to patients, families and health care team while being sensitive to how others perceive both verbal and non‐verbal communications. 2. Care Transitions RN Navigator - This is a hybrid position with expectations to work out of the Pulse Center located in Big Flats, NY! Summary The Care Transitions Nurse Navigator is responsible for managing a patient’s successful transition from hospital to home, providing disease management, care coordination, and patient triage.
